Just after 1am, Exeter Township Volunteer Fire Department crews were dispatched to the city of Reading as part of the 2nd alarm assignment for a working structure fire.

Swan Court Apartments - N 5th St
- Heavy fire in the apartment building
- 2nd Alarm Transmitted - reports of people trapped on 4th floor
- 3rd Alarm Transmitted - Fire on floors 3 and 4 through the roof

Exeter crews were dispatched for RIT (Rapid Intervention Team), but were requested to assist with multiple tasks immediately after arriving on scene. Chief 25 requested the next due RIT. Exeter firefighters assisted with stretching supply lines, hooking up to stand pipes, working hose lines, fire attack, and overhaul.

Rescue-Engine 25 was also requested to supply Ladder 18 and laid 5” hose from a secondary water system.

Exeter units cleared the scene just before 7am.
