Engine Tanker Assists Company 8

Tuesday, April 3, 2012 07:48 Engine Tanker 25 was dispatched to Skyline Drive in Alsace Township to assist on a dwelling fire.

Deputy Chief Chamberlain, who happened to be nearby on his commute home from work, heard the alarm and arrived on location before the apparatus, notifying the communications center of the working fire. This information was passed to Chief 13, who established command and requested the next alarm upon his arrival. The Deputy remained on the scene and assisted first arriving crews with stretching attack lines and obtaining water supply, later joining the ETFD crews on Engine Tanker 25 upon their arrival.


ETFD Members assisted in overhaul operations until released by Chief 8.

Sunday, April 1, 2012  Rescue 25 operates at a motor vehicle accident on Perkiomen Ave.



   


 

Training

Saturday, March 31, 2012  ETFD Members Ashleigh Ring, Ryan Hurlbrink and Ryan Lessig continue Delmar 2 at the Berks County Training Site. They learned using ropes and practiced connecting to the hydrant and laying a supply line to support Engine 1.




     



 

Stonetown Road Structure Fire

Saturday, March 31, 2012  Around 12:30 hours, companies 25, 7, 6, and 49 for RIT were dispatched to Stonetown Road in Exeter Township for a reported house on fire.  Units arrived on scene to find a fire in an attached garage and controlled the incident with negative extension to the residence.  All units cleared the scene in just over an hour.  Good job to all crews involved.

     



 

Structure Fire

Friday, March 30, 2012  At 16:02 hours Engine Tanker 25 and Engine 25 were dispatched to assist on a house fire located on Cocalico Road in Robeson Township. ETFD Crews stretched  attack lines and ventilated the roof .

 

     



 

Accident with Entrapment

Sunday, March 25, 2012  Exeter Fire and EMS were dispatched to Shelbourne Road for a motor vehicle accident with people trapped. Police arrived confirming heavy entrapment  advising a driver pinned from the dash board. The department removed the roof and doors and lifted the dash board allowing the victim to be removed.

Delmar 2

Saturday, March 17, 2012  Several members of Exeter Twp. Fire Department attend Delmar 2 classes at the Berks County Fire Training Site. Students from Mt. Penn, Oley, Birdsboro Fire Departments also are participating. Today students leaned various hose lays and appliances used to connect  attack lines to the fire engine.



     



 

Marine 25 at Blue Marsh Lake

Saturday, March 17, 2012 
Members of Exeter Twp. Fire Dept. spent the day at Blue Marsh Lake standing by to ensure the safety of the people participating in the Polar Bear Swim. This year people were able to stay in the water longer because of the warm temperatures. Boyertown (Keystone) Fire Company and the Reading Fire Department Scuba Team also assisted.




     



 

Small fire along railroad tracks

Tuesday, March 13, 2012  ETFD crews handled a railroad tie fire along the tracks passing through the township. The Norfolk Southern railroad was notified, and Brush 25 made access to the location and quickly extinguished the burning tie.

As dry conditions continue, the firefighters are quickly responding to any reports of outside fires. With warmer temperatures and slight breezes, small fires such as this one can quickly develop into larger, more dangerous conditions.

Residents are reminded to be aware of the open burning ordinances in place and to use extreme caution when tending to permitted outside fires.



   


 

Chimney Fire

Friday, March 9, 2012  ETFD responded to a Chimney Fire on Ahrens Drive in Exeter Township.
