Sunday, March 7, 2010 - Just after noon on a beautiful Sunday, Rescue 25 was dispatched to assist Company 7 with RIT on a reported working garage fire on East Main Street in Birdsboro. Rescue 25 immediately went responding with a crew of 5. Chief 7 arrived on location and assumed command. The 1st alarm was requested, which brought Tower 25 and Rescue-Engine 25-2 to the scene. Rescue 25 arrived on the scene and was instructed to lay a 5" line to the west side of the fire scene from a hydrant on East Main Street. Chief 25 requested the 2nd due RIT due to company 25 being placed into service. Rescue-Engine 25-2 arrived on the scene and was instructed to go down a narrow alley to the east side of the fire. A 5" supply line was hand jacked to Rescue-Engine 6 and a 1 3/4" handline was placed into service from Rescue-Engine 25-2. Company 49 and Safety 25 coordinated RIT efforts on the fire ground. The fire consumed two garages and four vehicles. Good job to all crews for holding the fire to the involved garages. All company 25 units cleared the scene in a little over 2 hours. There is a short video of Deputy 25-1's response attached to the story.
